Amanda Barise Strikes Back with “Cute & Deadly”
Three songs are all it takes to know Amanda Barise has talent, grit, and a promising future in the music industry. A perfect example is “Cute & Deadly,” the singer-songwriter’s new EP, co-produced with Grammy-winning engineer Max Faigen. Just weeks after her run on American Idol, where she made it to the Top 14, Amanda is already back in the spotlight with a short but striking release that speaks volumes about who she is, and more importantly, who she could become. Time is gold, and she knows it.
The EP’s title track, “Cute & Deadly,” kicks off this short but powerful journey, capturing Amanda’s essence as an artist. Infused with alternative R&B, soul, and even hints of jazz, the song is a tribute to the strength, discipline, and determination that define her. She has chosen to grab the bull by the horns and claim her place in an industry that’s both demanding and, at times, unforgiving.
“The truth is, after feeling like I missed out on a lot of fun in my early 20s due to depression and a lack of confidence in myself, I’m a fighter,” Amanda says, firm in her conviction that she’s not here to beg for a chance but to build something and prove herself, in case anyone still has doubts.
In “26,” Amanda surprises listeners with an intense yet fluid guitar that sets the mood for the EP’s most vulnerable moment. The track adds new layers to her personality, cracking open the wall she built with “Cute & Deadly” just enough to let us into a space that’s delicate but safe.
The EP closes with “Girl Like Me,” a ballad in which Amanda reflects on determination as her guiding force. It’s a reminder of the steps she’s taken to reach this point and her certainty that she won’t stop until she gets to where she’s going.
Amanda Barise has been singing since she was just five years old and was already recording vocals at that age. She holds degrees in Jazz and Contemporary Music as well as in Culture and Media. She’s contributed vocals to R&B legend Joe, collaborated on Melt’s hit “Stupid in Love,” and worked on tracks with TimaLikesMusic. Her “Soul Vox Pack” with Splice made it into the platform’s Top 10, she’s won a few awards, and both fellow artists and music critics have praised her velvety yet powerful voice.
“Cute & Deadly” is a short but surgically precise statement aimed at knocking down the doors that haven’t yet opened for her. Because success isn’t something you wait for; it’s something you chase… and she’s not waiting around.
