Bed Scene reminds us "It Feels Better" now

Miami-based Indie Pop-Rock outfit Bed Scene is back on everyone's radar after a relatively quiet 2021. It's been a little over a year since the band released their "American Dream" EP, and if their sound is any indication, the dream goes on, because "It Feels Better" makes their trademark sound manifest with its warm hazy vocals and the Oniric Synth accents carefully splashed throughout the track.

The band was started by guitarist and lead vocalist Nick Aponte in 2017, that time as a solo project, fortunately by 2018 the project had developed enough to make an EP debut, with the "Easy On The Eyes" single becoming an overnight hit with over 40k plays after it was included in Spotify's official "Fresh Finds List".

No doubt inspired by their current home turf, the song has plenty of sunshine in it. The track is very warm but also quite light-hearted and breezy, its uptempo beat and fun 60s surf-rock-inspired guitars give off this aura of good-spirited enjoyment, giving off a refreshing sound, not just in the harmonic language but also in the fact that they don't quite sound like most of what you're hearing out there nowadays. It's very unique but also quite approachable.

The summery fun vibes operate at the perfect service of the lyrics, as they have an almost innocent Springsteen-like working-class hero ethos about them, the song praises the hard work and optimism it takes to be an artist hustling hard to "make it". It's not all self-congratulatory, however, as the song really comes from a genuine expression of sentiments based on actual experience, and the lyrics are of course open-ended enough so that it is easy to relate to that joyful celebration of struggle and sacrifice. In their own words "It Feels better is "‘about working hard to overcome the obstacles of life while focusing on the things that make you happy.”

The Band premiered this song for a live audience on the 23rd of October at III Points music fest in Miami, going on stage alongside artists like The Wu-Tang Clan, Eric Prydz, and The Strokes.
