Casey Tutton's Debut single is right on target

Born to a music-inclined family, Casey Tutton grew up in a hectic and wildly creative household where each room was teeming with the sounds of musicians learning a new instrument or trying out the same old rif for the umpteenth time to get it "just right". Casey's brothers were musicians, who no doubt nurtured her sister's melodic bone with a myriad of influences and tastes, and even today they continue to be some of her most ardent and steadfast supporters and collaborators.

Home wasn't the only place where Casey got her musical side nurtured. After her family made the move to Shorewood, WI, an arts-focused community, she started training in classical voice, eventually making it into a madrigal choir with international reach. Casey got her start acting in theatre, opera, multiple films, and television, most notably Chicago Med (NBC) and Proven Innocent (FOX).

Throughout her life, music was a daily source of calm and clarity, and now she shares that clarity with us with her debut single, "Arrows", a lyrical masterclass where it's exposed how a lack of purpose and intent. "‘Arrows’ is about wanting clarity," says Casey, "even if it means getting hurt. It’s about falling for someone who keeps leading you on and then running away, and dealing with that uncertainty."

Casey Tutton's sound is extremely well-honed, doing a lot with relatively very little, as the song is built upon her graceful, and airy vocals and how they interact with the melancholic sighs she plucks out of the guitar.

Though originally the song deals with anxiety and uncertainty of a relationship where there are no resolutions and no clear horizons, it went on to take a different meaning for Casey after the dust settled and time did its thing.

"Now, to me, the song is almost more about how we romanticize the people we like, how our minds trick us into seeing them as perfect, or if not perfect, then somehow noble in their imperfections, and how unreliable that can be."

Casey wrote ‘Arrows’ alongside her friend Zach Palmer, and it was produced her older brother, Ryan Tutton, making this song a very special and personal release to mark the start of her music career. In the coming months, Tutton plans to release more songs created alongside friends and family, leading up to a full EP release before the year's end.
