TWIN-TERVIEW: CHIARA D'AMBROSIO
Chiara D’Ambrosio had an amazing night at the 2021 Daytime Emmys after taking home the “Outstanding Younger Performer in a Daytime Fiction Program” award for her role as Regan Sanders in "The Bay". A nomination she shared with her Twin Sister Bianca. Both sisters have drawn understandable comparisons to the legendary Olsen Twins and while both remain acting together quite frequently, Chiara's "solo" work has led her to land a role in the upcoming Crime Thriller "bandit" based on the career of the legendary bank and jewelry robber Gilbert Galvan Jr.
Chiara is also Joined by her sister Bianca in "yA," the upcoming, Spin-off series to "The Bay" where the sisters played the roles of Regan and Frankie Sanders (respectively). Check out our interview with her bellow:
Congratulations on your Daytime Emmy victory! The validation must be amazing but having been nominated alongside your sister must have been even more special at the time. How are you feeling right now?
I am feeling extremely honored and grateful. This is my wildest dream come true, and I am just in utter shock. Being nominated alongside my twin sister was so special. All of the times I had dreamt of this moment, she was always there by my side.
Tell us a bit about your part in the Upcoming film "Bandit". Is this your first role in a crime thriller?
I believe it is. I play Jill, who is the spunky daughter of Mel Gibson. She is a feisty teenager in the 80s who just wants to be more involved with her family. I cannot wait for everyone to see her!!
I wanted to ask about your upcoming tv series, "yA". What can you tease us with? what's this show all about?
I play Regan Sanders, who is the twin sister of Frankie Sanders. She is cautious, caring, and a loyal girl who wants to protect her sister at all costs. She was such a blast to play, and I’m excited for people to see and relate to her. The show is about these two teenagers who move to Bay City after their father passed away, and sort of have to adjust to their new lifestyle. This show has family and relationship drama, so stay tuned!
You have extensive experience in both TV and film, but where do you find yourself most comfortable?
Honestly, I feel comfortable in both spaces. When you work on set, you get familiar and grow to become a family with your cast and crew, which has happened to me in both movies and TV.
When the parts call for twins, directors know who to call, but when you're looking for parts on your own, what sort of roles do you audition for? have the two of you ever tried auditioning for the same part? I think that would really mess with the casting director's head!
We audition for the same role all the time. For us, we have always looked at it as a team approach. Sometimes it does mess with the casting director’s head, but we each have our own little quality that makes us different during the audition. But when working, it really can mess with the wardrobe, hair, and makeup people, LOL.
You've recorded a few songs with your sister already. Is music something you (personally or together with her) interested in pursuing?
We actually have a song that we have been holding on for a couple of years now, so hopefully we will release it later this year!! Music is definitely something I consider, but I have grown to love aspects of the film and television industry more. My goal is to continue working as an actor and pursue screenwriting. Our first song was Let Your Light Shine, which encouraged us to tell our story, and spread the message that bullying of any kind is not okay, and that we all need to work together to end this type of hate.
I've heard that you have a book club with your sister. what are some of the latest highlights you've read? is there a book that either of you loved that the other disliked completely?
Bianca and I started a book club during quarantine because we wanted to encourage our followers to take a break from either social media or the outside world and learn important life lessons in any book. We pretty much read the same books, so we have the same tastes… either we love them or dislike them! A highlight from any book I pick is to ask the authors in-depth questions about their novels and have a fun conversation about books in general. Talking with any author is an opportunity learn more about tapping into your creative side!
